Ambassador

Hi, im new here so bear with me as I find my way around.  I recently bought my first wheelhorse. It's a 312- 8.  I'd really like to get a tiller attachment for it. I only found one on local Craigslist and the guy wanted $650 for it. Am i gonna have to pay that much for one? What is a reasonable price and are there other places i should be looking for one? Thanks so much?

That is too expensive uinless it is  truly like new.

Post a wanted ad her.

Beware of really cheap ones, if the tines are worn out  that is a $200 or more repair. (if the tines have pointy ends they are shot.)

Mr. Ambassador, $650 is bit high, especially where you are (the land of plenty). Also depends on what all comes with the tiller and what shape its in. Most of the 312-8 didn't come with the rear lift (rock shaft) you will need it, also the lift adjustment did not come with a lot of the 312-8, you don't necessarily need it but it sure helps. My advice is to go to the wanted section in the classified section here and post an ad. Also if you don't need one right away, you are only an hour away from the big show (Arendtville) in June, you will find every thing you need plus plenty of  advice there.

:text-welcomeconfetti: to the :rs:       As others have said, $650 seems too high, and please try to come to the WHCC show in June.

The tiller price sounds a little high to me also!

$300-350 should get you a good one with all the parts...except maybe a belt.  If you are lucky, the seller may let the rock shaft and cable go with it.

Know what your looking for as well, there are lots of parts, I got what I thought was a good deal of $300 to find another $150 worth parts were needed to buy, according to my local dealer I still have a steal since tines show very little signs of use.  Just the belt is a wheelhorse specific and run you $50+

I would try the "Belt guys".. They have Kevlar belts for the best price around!

There is a vendor selling new tines but they are $500 if my memory is correct. probably could find another tiller for that but if you get a good deal on one with worn tines they can be replaced.

Can't they be repaired?

Can't they be repaired?

Short answer No.

I saw a troybilt tiller at an auction once that someone had obviously tried to weld new metal on worn out tines...What a mess.  After all the welding who knows how long the steel would last digging away and hitting rocks.  Also chunks could come flying off.

Why can't they be repaired. (Yes the long answer)?

      1989 Wheel Horse 520H
Selling my 1989 Wheel Horse 520H. It has hydro transmission and has hydraulic lift. I bought this tractor last November from the original owner with the intent to use it just in the winter. I have a 416-8 that I use for cutting grass, but also have a snow blade. I am selling this because I decided I want power steering so I bought a different garden tractor. I put in a new fuel filter, fuel lines, new spark plugs and oil was changed with a new filter put in. It has 115 compression on both cylinders. The carb needs work, but it does start and run. I no longer have room for it. 1790 hours.
      I am in Germantown, Wisconsin.
      Comes with:
      -42” Deck
-Two- Single Stage Snowblowers, one is attached.
      -Tiller
      -Snow Plow
-Hard Top, Soft Sided Cab, in good shape
      -Hubcaps
      -Cast Iron Weights
      -Chains
      -New Battery
      -New Snowblower Belt
      Price: $1100

Hi All, I’m a member of the RedSquare Facebook group, some of you may have seen My tractor there. I have a 1992 312-8 with a 37 inch deck. It came with a house my brother bought, and was given to me. It needed work but just minor things. I mow my lawn with it, and I just bought a plow to push snow/dirt so it’s a working restoration. It was relatively well taken care of by the previous owners so it really just needed a refresh. Anyway see you around the site!

      Very Solid tractor!

Newer Agro Tires on Rear and Solid Front Turf Tires. Wheel Weights on rear. Fully Swapped Forward Swept axle off of 520h. I ran my 60" Deck on this tractor for over a year with no issues.
Deck it solid top to bottom with no rot and newer blades. Belt and Pulley are good to go!
She's just a little dusty and needs a cleaning. Can get a nice Seat a Tractor Supply.

      $1175 OBO   -POOS

      (248) 9for3-8six3four Text or Call. I do not visit this site enough. God Bless.

NEW SEAT INSTALLED ON THIS TRACTOR! Started it up and ran it for a while yesterday... Forgot how nice this thing is. Tempting to keep it but it's time to send her one her way. GREAT TRACTOR!
