ztnoo 2,298 #4 Posted May 2, 2017 Found this thread about the Bachtold mowers. CasualObserver has one mounted to a tractor. Probably could answer specific questions about the unit and its mounting and operation.

Big-Game 91 #6 Posted June 5, 2017 Hello Jason, Thanks for the post, Sorry it took so long to get back but attachment was in transit. i am looking for information, literature and the size dimensions of the lift lever bar that goes under the tractor. Mine is missing. Any chance you will attend the show in PA ? Here is my email rsgreco@embarqmail.com Thanks for any help you can provide. Ron Greco
CasualObserver 3,408 #7 Posted June 6, 2017 @Big-Game Hey Ron... Sorry I won't be in PA this year. I have mine put up on a shelf at the moment... when I get it out in the next few weeks I'll get you pics and measurements of the bar. If memory serves it's basically just a piece of 1/2" round stock with a bracket or two mounted to the back and it connects to the rockshaft under the tractor. You have to disconnect the rear lift cable for it... it uses the same hole.
Big-Game 91 #8 Posted June 7, 2017 Jason I very much appreciate it, as you know it is very hard to find information on these. The pictures posted on here are the only things to go by. Thanks Ron

Big-Game 91 #10 Posted June 17, 2017 I appreciate you remembering me I am close to having it complete. I was missing the Mower Guard, I found a new one in a warehouse in AZ. The top belt guide was missing, I copied one from pictures and a broken piece still attached which gave me the size that the original was. I lift bar is the last item, It will have some things changed as right now time is a factor getting ready for the show in PA. I would like to find an original manual or a very good copy. I am lucky that my blade is in very good condition. I could use a new belt sometime in the future. Take care If you are going to the show next week look me up !! Big-Game 91 #12 Posted June 18, 2017 I hope to have it ready for the show but time is running out. I hate to show it and it not be DONE. I will be set up in the vendors section and if it makes it on the trailer it will be displayed with me under the white canopy.
tunahead72 2,403 #13 Posted June 19, 2017 Not to sway you one way or the other, but I would be happy to see it just the way it is right now. Nothing wrong with a work in progress!
elcamino/wheelhorse 9,295 #14 Posted June 19, 2017 Not to be asking a dumb question was the Bachtold mower used for mowing lawn or fields of high grass ,etc?

Not dumb at all... many people are unfamiliar with the concept of the Bachtold.... it was a brush and weed mower. Mostly used as fence lines and high weeds by farmers. Originally a walk behind unit, similar to a Roof walk behind mower. The tractor mounted ones are very uncommon. Here's a couple example pictures from the brochure.... Supposedly they made these other units pictured on the second page, but I've never seen either one. They also apparently made a speed jack... or as most people would recognize... a stationary PTO for running hay elevator or bin auger or something like that. @Big-Game Sorry Ron, I was afraid of that... that you were trying to complete it by this week. I'm tied up and won't be able to get that out before you leave unfortunately. And no, I won't be attending the show. I do however have extra copies of some literature. I'll get back with you later on that too.
elcamino/wheelhorse 9,295 #16 Posted June 19, 2017 Jason , thanks so much for the pictures. It can be surprising what the engineers of yesteryear came up with and how the items still exist and work. I guess I just like old stuff especially much better than the throwaway junk of today.
