Shankstr 1 #1 Posted April 11, 2017 When replacing the transmission oil seals, do I need to drain the gear oil first? Will it come oozing out? I'm thinking yes but I had just changed the gear oil so that's why I'm asking. This is a 312-8 model Unidrive. Thanks
rmaynard 15,619 #2 Posted April 11, 2017 Jack up one rear axle at a time so all the oil runs to the other side. Change seals on the high side, then reverse for the other side.
lynnmor 7,354 #3 Posted April 12, 2017 I would rather have some oil ooze out carrying any dirt with it. You can bring it up to the full mark when done.
