Oldarmy 113 #1 Posted April 3, 2017 So guys I am going to remove the deck on my new to me B80. I found this posting from several years ago. Good description btw. Two questions if I may. 1) does this posting refer to my tractor as well? 2) do I need to follow all of these steps to just remove the deck to service the spindles. T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,496 #2 Posted April 3, 2017 1) yes, it's the correct procedure for you B-80. 2) It would be easier to remove the deck to service the spindles, but you might be able to get to the grease fittings on the spindles to grease them. But, for best results, remove the deck to clean underneath the deck to remove any grass build up that will lead to corrosion problems. Also, it's a good time to resharpen the blades to provide a better overall cut. Use this opportunity to inspect all pulleys and belts for wear and tear. Oldarmy 113 #4 Posted April 3, 2017 I should have been more specific my mistake. This tractor was just restored but PO did not replace one bad spindle so I must. The condition of the deck is as new. So, must I remove the mule drive and the PTO rod etc. etc. just to slide the deck out for this replacement? Can't I drop the deck and remove the belt only and get it out? Just asking as I am new to this. Seems like a lot of parts need to be removed and I thought this had a quick mount/ dismount setup. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Oldarmy 113 #7 Posted April 3, 2017 (edited) Well I am back and I have the spindle in my hand part # 105074. Came apart quite easy but how the heck do I separate the spindle/bearing from the spindle housing? Do I need a press? There is a lot of slop in the bearing and no wonder it was so noisy. The other outside spindle has some play as well but nowhere as bad so my do them both while I'm at it. Center one seems to be the best of the three. Help me please lol. gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,032 #8 Posted April 3, 2017 See if this parts list matches your deck. Assembly "D" uses a bearing no longer available from Toro but Stens and Napa still have them. Also keep in mind the blades with a 5/8" x 3/4" double-D center hole are no longer available in most cases. BOB ELLISON 2,980 #12 Posted April 3, 2017 (edited) Mine I had to hit with a hammer using a heavy hammer with a dead blow. What I mean is don't let the hammer bounce and when you hit it it should move. If it feels solid when hit that's when it will brake. If you have a vice like I do that's your best bet , and yes mine were also steel it is my 48" deck with aluminum houseing I just changed them also. No part number just says (*** CANADA) in the rubber of the seal. But thanks to you guys I'm pretty sure it is a Sten part # 103119, true? Thanks again. BOB ELLISON 2,980 #14 Posted April 3, 2017 (edited) Yes 103119 is the correct part number. There $18.00-$30.00 on ebay. I ordered all 3 and replaced them when l had the deck off but that's just me. Clean the housing out but if you use sand paper do it lightly. Good luck When you install new one don't pound it in like you pounded the old one out. gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,032 #17 Posted April 3, 2017 We do have a photo of the instructions that came with the Toro bearing when they still had a supply.
