JPWH 6,147 #101 Posted July 16, 2017 While waiting for the.pulleys I figured I would start the exhaust. Lots of cutting, grinding, and a little fitting for a small showing of progress. 1
19richie66 17,532 #102 Posted July 16, 2017 A nice thought out system takes time. Looks like a good start. I see a stack in your future.
Aldon 4,827 #103 Posted July 16, 2017 Which means my builds are extremely well thought out to the point of overkill mine take years! Yours Is Very Nice thus far! So your doing a custom Rear PTO? What are you doing for the transfer of power? On the wheel horses it tended to be a pulley with female splined opening I think. Id really like to do something like that myself but have never gotten past the thinking stage:-)
JPWH 6,147 #104 Posted July 16, 2017 (edited) I seen a 3 pulley system for a splined shaft but I could not make it work with the hydraulic lift so I'm just going to mount a double pulley on the hitch frame one pulley for belt to pto and one for attachments to run a tiller or a bush hog. JPWH 6,147 #105 Posted July 22, 2017 (edited) The double drive pulley I made enabled me to finalize the hydraulic pump location. The drive belt and pto belt line up pretty well too. I welded the exhaust and muffler up. Edited July 23, 2017 by JPWH

JPWH 6,147 #108 Posted July 24, 2017 I had a couple hours after work today so I made a little progress. After modifying the pump bracket to allow access to the motor mount bolt I tacked it in place. A couple pictures of the double drive pulley. This motor is not tapped for the pto lever bracket so I had to fab one up.

JPWH 6,147 #110 Posted July 25, 2017 The rear idler pulleys I ordered were too small. The new rear idler pulleys should be in in a day or two then I can finish everything belt wise.

Oft times that kind of stack can break the threads out of the block.
JPWH 6,147 #113 Posted July 25, 2017 It is not as heavy as it looks. This is not the finished product. I just wanted to build a different muffler than I did for the 854. It is larger but also lighter. I will be installing braces from the motor and the frame once I get the belt guard brackets figured out.
JPWH 6,147 #114 Posted July 27, 2017 I picked up the rear idler pulley and made a bracket. As it turns out no modifications are needed to the tool box after all. I will have to modify the pto mounting bracket to get all the pulleys lined up correctly. Getting close to ordering belts, making belt guards and trying things out.
JPWH 6,147 #115 Posted July 29, 2017 I got the pto mounting bracket modified. I had to reverse the pulleys to line up to the pto pulley and the rear idler pulley. Everything is tack welded in place. 3

mmmmmdonuts 274 #117 Posted July 31, 2017 Nice work JPWH. Following this thread closely. I also got a Raider 12. What did the double pulley do to the length of the PTO? Do you have a inner shaft diameter of it? I am thinking about doing the double pulley as well. Do you have to extend the shaft out of the engine? How extensive are the modifications? Did you have to modify the drive belt clutch? Any more pictures or information would be nice.

The double pulley shortened the PTO about 3/4" I don't think this will be a problem for me because I will not be using the small outer pulley on the PTO. I can not tell the exact differences because I pulled a K181 out and installed the small block K301. The drive pulley lined up just as it did with the k181. I did modify the drive belt clutch only because I modified the tunnel so I had to shorten the clutch bracket to fit under the new belt guard. I used a pulley with a 1" shaft weld in hub but ordered it not welded. I will try to get you more pictures in a day or two.
JPWH 6,147 #119 Posted August 6, 2017 (edited) @mmmmmdonuts here are more pictures. Sorry it took me so long. The 8 hp engine shaft was 3 1/4" long and the 12 hp is 3" long which leaves the shaft back in the PTO 1 1/2". I have not moved the input drive pulley. I cut the PTO idler pulley in order to get the belts to line up like I wanted. Then finished mocking up the belt guard and foot control for the hydraulic lift. Electro12WH 50 #120 Posted August 6, 2017 (edited) If the guys down at the pub don't know any better, you can show them this photo and tell them about how your shop apron got caught in the PTO. They'll think your one tough hombre. Edited August 6, 2017 by Electro12WH
elcamino/wheelhorse 9,358 #121 Posted August 6, 2017 (edited) @JPWH Jay I may have missed it in your thread , what is the rear idler pulley used for? Edited August 6, 2017 by elcamino/wheelhorse
mmmmmdonuts 274 #122 Posted August 6, 2017 Thanks for the photos Jay. Makes much more sense now. Unfortunately got to many things going on to try a modification like that right now. I can't wait to see how it all works out.

elcamino/wheelhorse 9,358 #124 Posted August 7, 2017 I can't wait for the project to finish , small bush hog that would be something.
JPWH 6,147 #125 Posted August 8, 2017 I'm anxious to see if it will work in realty as well as it does in my mind. I'm sure there will be some things I forgot to consider that will provide some unforseen opportunities.
