Lane Ranger 10,945 #1 Posted March 10, 2017 My friend Roger Parmley in Greencastle has a lift piece that was made by Wheel Horse for tractors used in the Indianapolis 500 years ago. This lift will raise the front or back axles on Wheel Horse tractors and it is very neat. It came from a Wheel Horse dealer in Central Indiana! I am liking that 854 quite a bit !
jellyghost 378 #2 Posted March 10, 2017 Nice lift. I like the simplicity of the design. I bought a similar lift made by Craftsman, but it doesn't work well for wheel horses. The C-shaped metal that engages the axel has to be extra wide to accommodate the wheel horse. There are some triangle looking burrs on my c-101 angle that kept the craftsman from safely lifting the tractor.
Ed Kennell 38,022 #3 Posted March 10, 2017 I also had one of those Craftsman lifts.....sold it after dropping a tractor.
neil 2,409 #4 Posted March 10, 2017 That's wicked , will it lift the rear end too? They use something similar in formula 1 motor racing . Maybe stick small pieces of rubber on the lift forks to protect paintwork
Lane Ranger 10,945 #5 Posted March 10, 2017 (edited) Works on both axles Neil! The idea came from lifts they used at the Indy 500 track for cars in the 1960's Similar to one in this later photo. Edited March 10, 2017 by Lane Ranger
Sarge 3,463 #6 Posted March 10, 2017 I'd map out the dimensions of the parts....and start fabricating....lol . The new lifts in F1 are an engineering dream . Sarge
