WVHillbilly520H 10,373 #1 Posted March 9, 2017 So I finally got around to fixing that rotted/rusted out elbow/spout on the 520H I bought last spring (with 236 hours then now has 295) that sat out in the weather for 10-15 years, anyway I believe it will outlast the muffler now, .080 wall mild stainless steel (guess that makes it a custom upgrade lol) welded up to where the original set, Jeff. 9 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

WVHillbilly520H 10,373 #7 Posted March 10, 2017 @ACman, yep gravy job except for actually removing said muffler from tractor as the heatshields have to come off then a cut off disc on a 4 1/2" grinder flush with the original weld as the elbow was "scrap' from work then a couple tack welds before completely welding it fast 2 new exhaust gaskets and back together for hopefully another 20+ years, Jeff. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I had to use really low voltage and wire feed with FC Wire on an exhaust or thin metal and I still burn through here and there. I'm going to invest some gas I think and use the .024 wire that I have. Flux core. 030" wire on 110 volt 30+ year old Craftsman Mig, mine has high and low output set to high and wire speed set at high end of "normal welding" on dial, sorry can't be of more help, see even my welder is old like my s, Jeff. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
