WHC-125 4 #1 Posted January 20, 2009 I thought about it and I am going to the 11t Annual Wheelhorse show. I am planning bringing the 702 and my C-125 after I redo it. I was going to rent a U-Haul Its a 5 and a half hour drive one way Where should I stay for a hotel? What do I do for parking? Registering? Tractor spots All help is very appreciated :dunno:
Sparky-(Admin) 21,315 #2 Posted January 20, 2009 The nearest "big town" seems to be Gettysburg which is where I have stayed the last 5 years. It has all the big name hotels/motels and is about a 15-20 minute ride from the show. You could do a Google search for Gettysburg hotels/motels and get the whole list. Parking at the show is free and theres plenty of room for both trucks and trucks with trailers. Once your on the show grounds theres a registration/raffle/food building where you can register your tractors. This is also free. Tractor parking is a on a first come first served kinda thing. There was a Redsquare tent (thanks Eldon, TT and all those who got there early and staked out the claim) near the entrance to the grounds where most of the Redsquare members parked. Not sure if thats the way it'll be this year or not as the spot Redsquare had could be taken by someone else or another group like MTF. Mike........
BPjunk 184 #3 Posted January 20, 2009 Chris, Parking is no problem a the 11th Annual Wheel Horse Show and you can just follow the signs to registar (it's right in the main building which is also the resturant). There is pleanty of hotels in the Gettysburg area and camping on the show grounds is quite fun too. I am trying to get the Wheel Horse Collectors Club web site back into operation and I will have a list of hotels that are close to the South Mountain Fairgrounds. Wild Bill in Richmond, Va. WHC-125 4 #4 Posted January 20, 2009 I am really excited because this will be my first time going and it would be a great honor to meet some of the Redsquare memebers that I talk to over the computer And I hope we get that spot because just seeing some of the pics were amazing
Nick 13 #5 Posted January 20, 2009 Some show info in the last newsletter: The biggest change will be a Check-in/Show information area located in the field as everyone enters the fairground. At the check in area show participants will be given information on where to camp, register, unload, park, etc.... Everyone will have to stop at the check-in/Show information area. clintonnut 126 #7 Posted March 6, 2009 Glad your going. Isn't it a longer drive than that. It is 2.5 hours from Philadelphia. 8 hours would sound more reasonable. Charlie
bowtieguy 334 #8 Posted March 6, 2009 FYI...I stayed in Getty-town the first year....got tired of the drive and paying 100 bucks a night in the tourist trap pricey thing.....last year I drove WEST from the fairgrounds to Chambersburg, I think it was....found a name brand motel for 49 bucks....and a Waffle House close by...good 5 buck breakfast....so if I ever get to go again I'm staying in C-burg town....unless I camp on fairgrounds and eat Jerry's roadkill special for FREE...
