maxiblue 352 #3 Posted February 26, 2017 (edited) I have done mine few years ago, now and then I get a call to dig up a well. I don't do the work to replace the parts mostly just dig and close it up when the work is done. I was told pumbers don't dig. TravelinJavelin 620 #5 Posted February 26, 2017 Hello there Maxiblue when you use your backhoe do you leave it hitched to your tractor while digging or not that set up right there is exactly what i'm looking for and just curious on how you set yours up? i'm a propane tech by trade and that would be perfect for set up for laying line in the ground
Sarge 3,462 #6 Posted February 26, 2017 They really should be left hooked up to stabilize the opposing end of the bucket . There are even bigger models that can be towed behind a work truck and can do some pretty serious digging . If you go that route , make sure it's pulled with a good stout hitch/frame and never rely on using an automatic transmission's park position to hold that load - always use an e-brake that works correctly . It's not too hard to damage the park pawl in an automatic , seen too many work trucks shear them off or crack the trans case from using a tow-behind back hoe ....same goes if using a tractor and especially our tractor's parking pawl . TravelinJavelin 620 #7 Posted February 26, 2017 appreciate that Sarge......well #1 i'd never use a auto or hydro just because of the cost factor of something going wrong I try to stick with standards as much as possible if I can
maxiblue 352 #8 Posted February 26, 2017 Travelin Javelin I use to tow it with the tractor 2" ball and run both on my 18 foot trailer , now have a 10 foot trailer so I just haul one piece at a time. the towable trencher I walk up on the trailer with the use of the bucket, It will move 6feet at a time. most time doing a trench that's all I use to dig and refill. If I need to do landscaping I will bring the D-250 and my York rack . I may think a bigger trailer if I start to get a lot of work. But I'm retried now not really looking for work I use the backhoe by Its self not hook to any thing. the machine you can move it about 6 feet at a time any direction once when you learn how to use it.
