23 Reo 229 #1 Posted February 25, 2017 I just got a model 1 7231 tractor which I believe is a late 1968 Charger 12. THE transmission listed for this is a Sundstrand 90-2046. Is the correct fluid F type ATF? What is the correct filter?, Wheel Horse and Wix

Ed Kennell 39,211 #3 Posted February 25, 2017 and it may have ATF (pink) or 30w oil (amber). Use whatever is in it now.
pfrederi 18,000 #4 Posted February 26, 2017 (edited) If it is amber it should be 10w-30 not straight 30w, The available universal ATF Dexron 3/Mercon would be the choice if it is red. But like Ed said use what ever is in there now either one works just fine. Edited February 26, 2017 by pfrederi
23 Reo 229 #5 Posted February 26, 2017 Thank you, It has ATF in it, What is the 90-2046's fluid capacity ? Should I Screw in the plug / dipstick when I check the level ?
pfrederi 18,000 #6 Posted February 26, 2017 If it were completely drained 5+ qts. since complete draining isn't possible with out disassembly 4 to 5 qts are needed. (Buy a gallon and qt at Wally World) Yes to screwing it in
