Sarge 3,464 #6 Posted February 25, 2017 I really hope there's a lot more than just the wood visible holding up that load....might want to inspect the center of the roof line now on the outside . I'd add a steel channel or I-beam across the whole garage , and double up the vertical supports at the outside walls ....no such thing as overkill with overhead lifting . Every joint is plywood that's glued and nailed. There's a 4x4 spanning and attached to 6 trusses, and a 4x4 on top of that. The hoist is attached to 4 trusses. I've lifted V8 car motors from the 4x4 without even a groan from above. I actually lifted that tractor off the floor when I was paying attention to how the cable was going on the spool.
