Kohler K341 Timing Hole

Recommended Posts

MaineDad

Guys,

Where is the timing hole to view "S" or "SP" for timing purposes? I would like to confirm that the timing is OK.

Thanks,

I took the flywheel screen off and looked through the inner holes. I can see at the top left a small white square. Is that TDC?

The timing hole is on the back of the bearing plate, on the starter side of the engine. It should be covered by a small metal plug.

Dont think so Micah. I dont remember where the hole is on the big block motors, but on the small block motors it is (as Eric said) in the bearing plate on the starter side of the motor. The marks themselves are on the "back" side of the flywheel ie you look at it from the PTO side of the engine.

It helps if you find the marks first by turning the engine over by hand, and then putting a spot of paint (or a paint pen) on the marks so you can see them easier with the timing light (more important as we get older!!)
