But when it's installed and has compression, the points don't open and close like they should. ?????????????? The plate and flywheel were changed from a K91 but I didn't notice any difference and it bolted right up. Any suggestions what to look for? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

wallfish 16,980 #5 Posted March 9, 2009 Just to update the post for the archives. The push rod was moving a longer distance with the spark plug removed than it does when it has compression. ????????? I was setting the point gap when the plug was removed to turn it more easily by hand and therefore the points were not opening properly when the plug was installed. It took a while to get just the right gap in the points for the spark to be strong enough to fire the motor. An old timer told me to start with them closed and open them up a C hair at a time to find the sweet spot and it will fire up. He was right! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
