TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #4 Posted January 17, 2009 If you decide to buy a replacement, make sure it's the correct orientation for your application. There is a high mount starter and a low mount starter and they will not interchange. When comparing the two starters, the mounting "bracket" will be closer to the engine block with the bolts below the motor housing for a high mount, and the bracket/bolts will be above the motor housing on a low mount. The big block K series Kohlers on Wheel Horse tractors used the high mount starter, but the internals can usually be swapped - as long as it's the same motor type.
