pfrederi 17,663 #2 Posted December 26, 2016 Rotate the arm till it is at 90 degrees then put a side link in the two slots (which will be in line) The fold the arm back down so the hook on the end grabs the side link that is in the base of latch.

Ed Kennell 38,021 #5 Posted December 26, 2016 I have some that are close. Yours would hook into the side link to lock closed.
lynnmor 7,302 #6 Posted December 26, 2016 (edited) Looks like you need to flip the entire chain set over. The cleats should be towards the road, not the weather beaten tire. Edited December 26, 2016 by lynnmor

Learned this lesson about 35 years ago when the chain clasp came undone in the middle of plowing. Bad enough getting chains on when it is dry and cold. In the middle of a snow storm it is definitely not fun.

Sarge 3,463 #11 Posted December 27, 2016 Do a search for latching down tire chains on YouTube - there should be an easy video of how to latch various types , lot of different latch systems out there . Metal wire works the best to make certain they don't open and plastic wire ties work in a pinch but are very prone to breaking in cold weather . I've had one come off and wrap itself around the axle and ag tire - that wasn't fun at -20*F with high winds , worst day for it to happen and that was from a crappy latch and broken plastic wire tie ...
