elliot ness 1,916 #1 Posted December 11, 2016 I cleaned up both 60in. decks and stored them till spring, come on spring. I always clean up the underside of all my deck and spray them with fuel oil, usually spray them 3 or 4 time a winter, I also have all my 48 in. deck stored inside the big garage. The one 60 in. that is surface rusted will be cleaned up and painted come spring. Those 60 in. deck that come on the 520's are built like a tank.
Pollack Pete 2,273 #2 Posted December 11, 2016 Too bad it's going to be a loooooong time til those decks see some action.Fuel oil spray is a good idea for rust prevention.
JERSEYHAWG / Glenn 4,497 #3 Posted December 11, 2016 Man of man they are big. Looks like a pair of wings off a B52 bomber. Lol Good way to store them. Glenn
lynnmor 7,302 #4 Posted December 11, 2016 I spray mine with Fluid Film. It smells better and doesn't run off making a mess. I need to come up with a better way to invert my 60" decks, my back is about wrecked with those things.

But that's what makes them bullet proof. I use my 520H with a loader when I need to take them to the car wash.
HokieAg07 129 #6 Posted December 11, 2016 Quite the task removing or installing them on the tractor, but love the deck. Time to take mine off soon and rebuild the spindles. Anyone taken the spindles apart to inspect and rebuild spindles on these monsters?
lynnmor 7,302 #7 Posted December 11, 2016 I rebuilt mine some years ago. As I remember, it was a pretty straightforward job. Be sure that the blade mounting surface is true, it doesn't take much to cause the blade to wobble because of the relatively small contact area.
obone 142 #8 Posted December 13, 2016 I like how you stored them straight up like that. I only have 42" deck that has to come off and I will do as you did. Thanks for the idea.
