Ed Kennell 39,735 #3 Posted December 6, 2016 (edited) Personally, I like the C-XX0 models mainly because I have had some starting problems with the tractors that have the lower tank under the seat like the c-XX1and the 300 series. If the under the seat tanks are not kept over 3/4 full, the fuel level is below the intake of the fuel pump causing priming problems. I am also not a fan of the rocker plate engines. I don't feel they made any significant difference in the engine vibration and apparently WH concluded this also as the design was very short lived. Dave has it right above. Shuboxlover 479 #6 Posted December 7, 2016 (edited) My personal preference is the C-121 (and any variation of them)...my main three reasons are... 1) Gas tank under the seat (I've never personally had a problem with fuel flow). 2) Battery is easier to get at 3) I like the look of the smooth dash tower. Each to their own though.... Edited December 7, 2016 by Shuboxlover
kto434 108 #7 Posted December 7, 2016 I have a C-121 and love it! Dependable and (to me) nice looks.
ohiofarmer 3,314 #8 Posted December 7, 2016 Wow, nice tractor KTO. Lewisburg is just down the road[maybe 6 miles] a bit for me.The thing I wonder about your tractor is how you keep the paint from going bad around your muffler. Do you use any heat shields? I am working on painting my 121 and the existing paint is blistered around the muffler
kto434 108 #9 Posted December 7, 2016 The tractor hood is repainted (about 10 years ago using Toro Red paint). My tractor is only used 10 to 15 hours a year (which may help explain it); when not in use it is garaged and even when not in use (don't tell anyone) gets cleaned and waxed pretty regularly--LOL Here is a pic of its "younger" siblings--LOL

oldredrider 2,553 #11 Posted December 8, 2016 I have one of each model; both workers. Although they are different horsepower, C-141 and C-160, the models are identical to the 12hp versions. I agree with Shoeboxlover regarding the battery placement and gas tank location. C-141 also has larger fuel capacity. I see no performance differences between the two, other than horsepower. All attachments fit the same and are interchangeable. ..in case you need a backup. They are both of equal standing in my opinion.
Sarge 3,464 #12 Posted December 9, 2016 The only possible issue I have with the "plain C's" is the fuel tank and it's location . Being up and behind the engine creates it's own issues such as fuel spillage and lack of capacity . Other than that and maybe the ugly hood , love the earlier versions ... rustykan 140 #13 Posted December 10, 2016 I personally like the looks of the C-120 over the 121. Here's mine.
Ed Kennell 39,735 #14 Posted December 10, 2016 (edited) Is that engine decal from Terry ? Is the seat and mount original? Edited December 10, 2016 by Ed Kennell
Racinbob 11,448 #15 Posted December 10, 2016 (edited) That's beautiful Rusty. Yes Ed, that's the set up they went to in 76. The seat isn't original. Thanks to Richie I'll be using the same thing on my 500 Special. Edited December 10, 2016 by Racinbob
kto434 108 #16 Posted December 10, 2016 Wow, very nice C-120! You guys are too kind not pointing out/mentioning the hood decals on my C-121 are backwards (I am sure you noticed). Rookie mistake (and I am too lazy/cheap, so far, to remove them, redo the hood paint as needed, and apply new decals--LOL).
Ed Kennell 39,735 #17 Posted December 10, 2016 Yep, they are backwards from my C-101.
