Not sure what you have there Ed.  Right, the early 60's blower had a barrel look, but that one has some other stuff going on.  A few more pictures would help.  :handgestures-thumbupright:

I'll get some better detailed pics.   It has a swinging gear box that appears to be the belt tensioning pulley.  It has the twin Vee belt pulleys  like my 875.

I could not find it in the early blower manuals.

Right...get some pictures.  I have an early blower that I have mounted on my 857 and last year on my 876...so it is possible...and I can show you what it takes.  :)

OK, had to make a trip to the barn...It's cold out there in your PJs and bare feet.IMG_6758.JPGIMG_6757.JPG

It has this really robust cast iron one piece jack shaft housing on the auger drive end.  The jack shaft is chain driven from the drive shaft.

IMG_6755.JPG

The drive gear box, the two mounting bars and the triangular lift piece all swing on the same common trunnion shaft

IMG_6756.JPGIMG_6760.JPG

The two mounting bars are slightly wider than the frame on the 875, but it looks like it could bb bolted to the frame with some spacers and the twin pulleys would line up to the engine pulleys.

I must be missing the tensioning and clutch linkage though

Thank you Garry.    My snow thrower matches  the ST 3072 model.    The manual states the thrower will fit 1961,62,63, and 64 short frame tractors.

It appears it would also fit my 1965 875 as it has the twin implement drive pulleys on the engine and the implement clutch engagement pedal.

I am missing the clutch rod that connects the pedal to the drive box and the push/lift rod to raise the thrower.

These rods can easily be made after the unit is installed on the tractor and the lengths are determined.

Thanks again Garry.  Now I understand how the clutch system works and the parts that I need.

Steve, if your thrower looks like mine and you have installed pictures, they would be appreciated.

Ed, mine is an STR-324...I think the R means it is for a Ranger, but I use it on my 857 and 876.  That one you have looks like a beast compared to mine, but it should mount pretty much the same.  Thanks for those pictures.  :handgestures-thumbupright:  Notice the flat pulley mounts on the frame there under the head light.  With the newer models that pulley is a part of the blower frame.

Looks like there are extra pieces welded to the outside of the mounting brackets. Maybe to extend them for some reason like it was mounted to a larger tractor.

There should be a chute handle support which mounts to the side of the tractor frame. That's fairly simple to build too.

Ed's blower is completely different from str-324. Belts engage to a gear box and a foot pedal is used to tension the belts and engage the blower. The lift rod is a single solid piece and not a tube and flag 2 pc setup. The lift mechanism to allow the blower to float is built into the blower itself to accommodate a solid link lift rod.

Thanks for the pics Steve.  Like John explained in detail above, the blowers are totally different with regard to the lift and belt tensioning mechanisms.

Although the manual states my blower is for the 1961-1964  500,600, and 700 series tractors, I believe it will also fit my 875  and your 857 as they both have the twin drive pulleys and the implement clutch pedal required to tension the belts.

Thank you all for helping me to ID and understand how this blower works.  :text-bravo:
