5010 leaking on axle

so my suburban is leaking on the left axle by the hub and i was wondering how i fix it and if i should.

The seal is a 1257 which is now 83-2840. Availability seems to be hit and miss. No need to open it up to change it but you'll want to make sure there's no up/down, forward/back play at the bushing. If there is you'll need to replace the bushing or you'll just destroy the new seal. Replacing that will require opening it up :)

Simply remove the hub and key. The seal goes around the outside of the axle. Just tap it off. Again, make sure there's no play at the bushing. Before sliding a new seal back on make sure there are no burrs on the axle that will damage the new seal and I like to put a light coat of oil on it. :)

That picture obviously has the axle removed. You don't have to do that.
