mikeeyre74 289 #1 Posted November 21, 2016 I'm on the way home to work on the new to me tractor. It's a 1976 C120 Automatic. I've never had a hydro before and I'm changing all the fluids on it... The manual doesnt say the hydro capacity though? Can anyone tell me how much I'm gonna need for this job? I believe it's a Model 90-1136 Sundstrand trans in there. gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,104 #2 Posted November 21, 2016 The dry capacity is 6 quarts but you won't get it all out. You may get a bit more out if you raise the front of the tractor. Garry
mikeeyre74 289 #3 Posted November 21, 2016 Holy smoke. That's a lot of oil! In that case, what does a typical drain and fill get me? 4 quarts out? 5? Just asking because I've never done it before and if I hear what you're saying and only get out 3, but the norm is five, that might be a problem.
cafoose 3,355 #4 Posted November 21, 2016 Check the level before you drain it, add any if its low, measure the amount you drain, refill with the same amount.
953 nut 55,887 #5 Posted November 21, 2016 (edited) Should need about a gallon including the filter, you will want a new NAPA 1410 filter when you change oil. Also, it is important to use the same oil as is in it; if it is amber use 10 W 30, if red use Dextron ATF. Edited November 21, 2016 by 953 nut
mikeeyre74 289 #6 Posted November 22, 2016 Yeah, I read where the company was using ATF for a while, and then motor oil, etc. and people switch back-and-forth for various reasons… But my manual told me to use 10W-30, so I'm going to use that or flush out whatever is in there and end up using that unless somebody can tell me why i shouldn't?

pfrederi 17,902 #8 Posted November 22, 2016 Flushing adequately will use at least 2x (maybe 3x) as much oil. ATF works just fine if that is what is in there I would stick with it.
