SUBURBAN 400 STEERING WHEEL

Im new to this sight so bear with me. Im refurbishing a Suburban 400 (my 1st one) it has been sitting in the weeds for the last 20 years and the steering wheel is down to just the metal, is their a way to repair it? Can I buy a new one? also the gas tank is rusted up pretty bad, hole in the bottom........any ideas for that?

Well butter my a$$ and call me a biscuit!!! A 'burban with a vertical shaft...now if that don't beat all!! Be curious to know how that gem is pullied. Plans to put that techy in her? Reminds me of my Rat Rod when I brought it home. What it looked like then.

I picked one up at the big show Rick so they are out there. That's the one I restored in the picture I sent you. My original was down to the bare metal like yours. I'm interested to see if anybody has saved one like that. :)

Thanks guys I'm having some fun with this. The vertical shaft that's in it was just a brain storm the guy I bought it off had......it didn't pan out. Yes I plan on putting the other engine that setting there in it, the guy I bought it off says it's the original?

It could be original... if so it looks as though you have a 550 not a 400.

Check the numbers on the ID plate on the blower housing.....should be HB55-1170.  Looks like the original motor with the Tillotson updraft carb for the 1960 Suburban 550.
