Hacksawhero123 351 #1 Posted November 10, 2016 (edited) Ok, there is no way that I'm the first guy to do this. I was looking for a replacement for my destroyed steering wheel. The options to fit the shaft were few and I thought a bit expensive. Thinking back to when I raced dirt track, I had a brain storm. Or a slight drizzle. A steering wheel quick connect is a 3/4" shaft. $25 for the quick connect and $32 for a Grant classic wheel. No modification made to the shaft. I drilled a hole in the coupler for a roll pin. I might rig a spot weld on it. Cool thing is if the wheel is in the way while doing maintenance, it takes half a second to rip it off. Mark. Roadapples, you Sir are absolutely right. It is easier to mount and dismount with the wheel removed. Mark.

USHorse 41 #11 Posted November 13, 2016 Great idea. To get the original wheel off, did you gave to cut the shaft or were you able to get the old roLL pin out?
Hacksawhero123 351 #12 Posted November 13, 2016 My wheel was rusted badly and bent to snot. I used an air cutoff wheel and split the wheel after drilling the roll pin. Mark

Texas Todd 1,025 #14 Posted November 13, 2016 Great idea! It appears that if a wheel is stuck and needs to be cut off, this would come close to replacing the cutoff length.
