Hello all

Richy in West Wales here. I collected my Wheel Horse today - bought from a classic car /automobilia auction a couple of weeks back.

I'm new to this - can anyone tell me about this model please, as I'm clueless so far!

:WRS:  I'm sure you will get the info your looking for shortly. If you find the tag with model and serial number that will help with year and model for down loading the correct manual.

I support Wales Rugby and Wales Wheel Horses.

I like the looks of your purchase.  The serial number should solve all of the confusion, but someone will post who knows.

:WRS:  Looks like you have a nice little 1960 Suburban there. It looks like it has a home made belt guard, and the throttle and choke are missing. Unfortunately the serial number would have been on the mounting plate for the throttle & choke levers. The lift handle and ratchet mechanism for the implement lift is also missing. I can't truly tell from the pics which engine it has, kinda looks like a Tecumseh. A 4hp Kohler K91 would make it a Suburban 400. A 5.5hp Tecumseh would make it a Suburban 550. Nice looking tractor! Enjoy it & don't be afraid to asks us questions.

Hey Richy that's a great little tractor. Good to have someone on board from the UK.

I agree you have a 1960 Suburban.  As mentioned, a 550 would have came out of the factory with a 5.5 hp Tecumseh, and a 400 would have had a 4 hp K91 Kohler.  After 56 years, the engine on this one, might not be original though.

Not many of these here in UK , I also have one of those , and recently sold one too . I live in Somerset so not too far from you .

from memory I only know of around about 10 of these that exist  here in UK , I'm sure there are more but not many .

Here are a couple of good examples of what your tractor wouould have originally looked like . You can get some reproduction parts but you will have to have them shipped over from USA.
