82Caddy 851 #1 Posted November 7, 2016 Maybe I'm searching the wrong words or combination of words but I'm looking for what this style of belt routing/mounting/attachment is: I know it's probably not the most sought after setup. I just don't know what it's called. I've got a crazy idea and if it works it'll be nifty. Short frame, square hood, round fenders, big block Kohler, 8 speed rear end, row crop front end with a mower deck... Yep, crazy. Not here to discuss the functionality or anything like that. Just want to build something for myself that's different from the rest as a winter project.
Aldon 4,828 #2 Posted November 7, 2016 (edited) I only know it as Manual PTO. There are a couple different designs which are generally minor differences. Pull a couple tractor manuals from early to mid seventies I think you will find the parts diagrams. GT14's occasionally had them but not in the manuals so I think I found the info in a raider or charger manual of that era. edit, Or do you mean the old style mule pulley system? roadapples 6,983 #3 Posted November 8, 2016 My `72 Raider 10 has that type mule drive. `74 C160 has the newer style on the front. Old style worked OK, but if you turn right too sharp the tire will rub the pulley...

I don't want the newer attach-a-matic type that sits in front of the axle. Not this kind: I'm after the name of the one that sits behind the front wheels, directly under the engine that isn't for gear drive decks. Like the link. CasualObserver 3,410 #5 Posted November 8, 2016 The one in the link isn't like the first picture. That's a special 953/1054 thing.... which is it's own animal. As for the first picture....It doesn't really have it's own name, it was just the belt tensioner for late 60s tractors. If anything, I'd call it the cam belt tensioner, because parts of it are the "cam roller bushing", "cam plate" and "cam arm assembly". Pretty sure I've got a spare deck with one on it if you get going on the project.
pfrederi 18,328 #6 Posted November 8, 2016 The PTO parts are really part of the mower deck. 5-1422 5-1482 used this set up. http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/files/file/185-mower-rotary-42in-sd-1969-5-1422-om-ipl-snpdf/
