"D"- Man 827 #6 Posted November 3, 2016 I am not fortunate enough to own one of the models that this gear will work in; however, it is nice to know that if I ever did need one, it is available. Lowell has been doing a sweet job of repoping some much-needed parts.

Absolutely you can shift on the fly Jim however I don't recommend it, a person should still stop to shift. However should you want to I could have Terry make up some B&M or Hurst shifter decals for 3rd gear if you'd like. wheelhorseman 3,211 #12 Posted November 4, 2016 (edited) Here is a couple pictures out of my transmission manual, the gear should work on most of the two-piece 3 speed transmissions except the bevel gear transmission which was used in the 953, 1054 and such - see pictures Edited November 4, 2016 by wheelhorseman1000

dclarke 4,034 #14 Posted November 4, 2016 That's fantastic, Lowell. Ever thought about just reproducing a complete tractor? Those might sell like hotcakes at the big show.
Terry M-(Moderator) 2,176 #15 Posted November 4, 2016 Thanks Lowell, this will really help with some of my future transmission rebuilds.
stevasaurus 22,882 #16 Posted November 4, 2016 (edited) OK...that gear will fit into most RJ transmissions, and Suburban Transmissions. Note: These are the 3 piece transmissions #5003 and #5010. Wheel Horse used the #3523 forked gear in both of these, but there was a point where they changed the number of splines on the spline shaft and they changed the number of splines in the 2 forked gears accordingly...but not the part number. You have to count the splines to know if this gear will work in your transmission. Lowell's gear is the 11 spline...the older model has 10. Lowell's gear will work in all the 2 piece, 3 speed uni-drives...except the trannys with bevel gear differentials. Lowell's gear will also work in all of the 4 speed, uni-drives. If you are not sure, check the parts list for the transmission that is on your horse...and count the splines. The service note is on page 12 in the transmission manual. WHX?? 49,192 #21 Posted November 4, 2016 Oh Oh ....that one on the left of Bob's looks just like the one I just buttoned up in a 5060
Racinbob 11,247 #22 Posted November 4, 2016 (edited) Then you're in good shape Jim. The one on the left is the NOS gear. The one on the right might be OK for a non-worker as long as the input gear was decent. Edited November 4, 2016 by Racinbob
stevasaurus 22,882 #23 Posted November 4, 2016 If it was in a 5060 it wouldn't matter...different number gear.
Racinbob 11,247 #24 Posted November 4, 2016 I think he was referring to the inner teeth Steve and not thinking about the number of spline teeth.
