ce318 13 #1 Posted October 25, 2016 I have a 418A with the hydro tranny. Is there a secret to getting it to take the oil without a major oil spill ie. a vent plug or something? I get about 2 cups of oil in then have to wait for the thing to burp.
Detector 72 #2 Posted October 25, 2016 If it's like my 312-H,I loosen the oil filter and it goes right in
ce318 13 #3 Posted October 25, 2016 I was thinking I should have left it off till I was done pouring oil.
squonk 41,447 #4 Posted October 25, 2016 There are 2 bolts in the top of the trans that hold the lift cable tube on. Take one of those out and it will vent there.

But make sure to clean around the bolt VERY well! Any dirt getting in will traverse the charge pump and lift system (not good!) before hitting the filter. Personally, I leave the oil filter off and hang an empty oil quart with the side cut out over the filter holder. Sometimes small amounts of oil trapped in the drain line will burp and spurt out if you do it this way and this prevents any spills. The last couple of times I have done this, none ever leaked out but I like precautions! Lots of ways to skin a bear!
