Mid '90s 520h stopped dead

Recommended Posts

Mongo

While cutting my lawn my 520h came to an abrupt stop. Couldn't get it re-started.

I loosened off the belt from engine to hydrostatic pump, and the engine started right up.

No movement in the pump shaft.

So, do I have to remove the whole pump and try in getting it repaired or is there something else I can do??

Any help would be great.

Thank you,

If the pump pulley does not move freely. You have a problem. You can take it off and disassemble it and found out why it's not turning or start looking for a replacement pump or whole trans assembly.

Hope it's just the pump Mongo.   :handgestures-fingerscrossed:

:twocents-02cents:   Have you checked to be sure the pulley didn't slide in on the shaft and get wedged against the pump?

I have removed the "cooling fan blade" and the pulley from the shaft. Before I did that, I was unable to turn the pulley I any direction. After removal of pulley, still unable to turn the shaft.

There was some play of the pulley on the shaft, meaning I could slide towards and away from the pump.

Seems to be a lot of work to get the pump off.

Here is a thread with some photos of the pump internals I found using the search that might be of some use.

Are you talking the bearing on the lift pump ?

What bearing number is it ?

Did you take pics of your progress ?
