Honest Bob 19 #1 Posted October 11, 2016 New here from PA. I just picked up a sweet 656 thats in pretty good condition (at least for its age). It starts right up and mows. It comes with some sort of home made plow and tiller. I plan to restore it and put it back to good use.
jellyghost 378 #2 Posted October 11, 2016 Congrats. It looks great! What do you think the spool on the front is for? Any pics of the homemade tiller and plow? That sounds cool.

Sparky-(Admin) 21,351 #4 Posted October 11, 2016 First time I've ever seen a battery mounted like that...very creative. I have a 656 as well, mine has a pull start Honda so no battery location issues. Mike....
DennisThornton 4,769 #5 Posted October 11, 2016 Wow! First post and Honest Bob shares 3 pictures of a vintage WH with some unique attachment/s. We got us a great new member here! Now, Honest Bob, what the heck is that hanging off the front? And why is that big battery so important when the rope start probably works too? And where are the rest of the pictures? Oh! And!

KC9KAS 4,741 #8 Posted October 11, 2016 Well, he said it had a "homemade" plow, so my guess is the battery and mechanism on the front is for a plow & winch! @Honest Bob
953 nut 55,388 #11 Posted October 11, 2016 The shot frame are wonderful snow pushers, Could it be that the cable that lifts the snow plow comes up over the top pulley and then back to the bell crank?
Mike'sHorseBarn 2,999 #12 Posted October 11, 2016 That gadget on the front is neat looking! The battery location is definitely interesting as well! Overall the tractor looks very nice and if the Techy engine is running good then you should just feel like the luckiest guy in the world! lol Here is the manual for your 656 if you are interested.

Honest Bob 19 #15 Posted October 11, 2016 Thanks for the warm welcome! I believe the contraption in the front is for lifting and lowering a snow plow. I actually havent seen the plow or the tiller yet. I bought the tractor from my hoarder in law who got it in trade for some mechanical services. He hasent picked the attachments up yet but he believes them to be home made. The rear attachment could be a tiller or cultivator really not sure. I'm not a fan of the contraption up from as it keeps the hood from opening, it makes it hard to even fill the gas. It will probably get replaced with an actual wheel horse plow. Half of me hopes its an original plow and I just need a lift handle. The Teck seems to run pretty good. Fired right up even after a bumpy trailer ride. I hope to get the power washer, simple green, and scrub brush out after work to see whats underneath the grime.
