rmaynard 15,425 #1 Posted October 9, 2016 I went to look at a 2003 Kubota BX2200, 3 cylinder diesel tractor this morning with my son-in-law. Before he makes an offer on it, he wanted me to see if any of my Wheel Horse brothers had any experience (good or bad) with it. Comes with a 60" deck, and has 396 hours on the meter. Seller is asking $5500.00.

rmaynard 15,425 #3 Posted October 9, 2016 (edited) We offered $4500.00 and were rejected. He's thinking about our counter offer. Edited October 9, 2016 by rmaynard
Wishin4a416 2,191 #4 Posted October 9, 2016 I had a 2230 Bob. Same tractor. 2005 54" deck with 500 hours and showroom condition. I got 8000 for it in June. Never had an issue with it except for the Temp wire broke and I had to repair. That tractor is well worth 5 grand in my neck of the woods. They are 13 or 14 new now here. What happened to the seat?

I own a BX2230 also with 60" deck and FEL . There are a great machine , 5K is good price . You'll be pleased with the cut also . I've also found that the maintenance parts aren't to expensive . wh500special 2,160 #8 Posted October 11, 2016 Dad had one for several years and eventually traded it for a BX23 because he wanted a backhoe. He had the 60" mmm and fel. The Bx series are really nice tractors. The tractor is about the same size as a d250 and is small and nimble enough that you can run them safely even close to the house. The bx2200 has a surprisingly powerful engine for something in that size class. The 60" deck in thick grass doesn't even phase it. At all. And it sips fuel. His was as reliable as a stone fence except for one issue when it was nearly new (maybe 50 hours). The shift fork for the high/low range fell off inside the transmission and wrecked it completely. One of those bizarre zebra sightings. Kubota replaced everything under warranty. After that, never an issue. Dad's sits in an in heated shed in a climate like yours. It starts right up in all weather conditions even if you forget to run the glowplugs long enough. The 4wd means no chains needed which I would expect would be great for asphalt driveways. Kubota builds the entire tractor. That's pretty much their philosophy across their product line: do everything in-house. Engines can last thousands of hours. The rest of the tractor is pretty much as solid as the engine too. Had a zero turn kubota with almost 4000 hours. Started and ran like a top every time. Really nice machines. Steve I should add that these "subcompacts" have what is considered a "limited category 1" three point hitch. You may find that some older implements are just a touch too wide for the hitch arms to grab. Usually, you can just turn the draw pins around (pointing inward) to compensate, but be aware that not all three point implements will fit. It's a trade off for the narrow tread width of the machine.
rmaynard 15,425 #9 Posted October 30, 2016 (edited) Son-in-law ended up finding a deal on a 2003 Kubota B2400 with FEL. Owner delivered it yesterday. He didn't have the owners manual, so we are looking for that. I can find all sorts of manuals online, but as of yet haven't found the OM. rmaynard 15,425 #10 Posted October 31, 2016 Just thought I'd add a pic. I think that's a smile on my face. Does anyone have an owner's manual for a B2400?
Sparky-(Admin) 21,300 #11 Posted October 31, 2016 I'm pretty sure that bush your aiming at isn't smiling Bob!! Nice machine! Mike......
wrightorchid 261 #12 Posted October 31, 2016 Well worth to get with the FEL, rather than trying to add one. They are good tractors, and should last a long time.
lt230s 14 #13 Posted November 2, 2016 Look here for manuals: http://www.kubotabooks.com/AutoIndex/ I saw the WSM for the B2400 & LA351 loader on there. Good luck with it. I'm sure he will like it. I have the L2550 w/ loader and love it. Had an old B6000 before that.
HorseHead1089 99 #14 Posted November 27, 2016 i work at a kubota dealer, main repairs I see and somtimes assist on customer units is because of neglect , forget to check all your hydro, front axle, engine, trans ect... i set them up and they are built well, well worthit to get a loader with it than adding it.
Razkid 68 #15 Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) I have a 2001 BX2200 that was purchased new. The only problems I've had with it are a gas tank sending unit and a wire pinched under the roll bar mounting plate, done at the factory. I have the 60" mower with vacuum bagger which really comes in handy for Fall leaf cleanup. Gator blades are used to shred the leaves so the bags will hold more before having to empty them. Forks that mount to the FEL are used for lifting pallets and moving brush to burn piles. When the snow starts to fly, the snow blower and plow go on along with the golf cart cab from Northern Tool. The rear tires are filled so I've never needed tire chains with this setup. Have fun with the new toy, I mean piece of yard equipment! You'll be amazed at the ways you will find to use it to make your life easier. Messicks.com is a great place to order parts from and get questions answered. The snow blower was a little too big for the Cub! Edited November 30, 2016 by Razkid
