Plow Identification

Recommended Posts

Member Wildside has this plow and we're trying to identify it. It does have red paint on it in places. Any help is appreciated.

With that type of lift mechanism on the top, maybe an Allis Chalmers or Simplicity,

If it is Simplicity it is very early because they did not hang off the handle bars after that. They had a 8" for the 3hp tractors and 10" for the 5hp models in 1941.

The more I look at this the more I think someone adapted it to be used on Simplicity's last model of 2-wheel walking tractor - the model W.

The first riding tractors at the time used the same transmission.

These models have a round horizontal receiver tube above the transmission that accepts a 1" pin similar to the one added to the top of the hanging hardware on the plow.

The chain would have a pin on it to drop in the hole.

The clevis made up at the front is what would pull the plow as the W has the hitch/tube to accept it located below the transmission.

I can see some elements of the Simplicity plow, but the curve at the front doesn't match the Simplicity plow, which is straight.
