Stigian 1,234 #1 Posted September 24, 2016 I picked this band saw up Thursday for a rather cheap price, it works but needs a new blade.. You may also notice the legs are somewhat bent, twisted kicked about a bit.. Sooooo... Out came the grinder, "off with her legs".. Not wanting to have a bench top band saw I thought I should give it some legs back made from only the finest scrap steel I could find Back on the ground with the cutty bit bolted back on and a couple of wheels from a WH cutting deck to make moving it around easier.. Once I've rewired it and a new blade is fitted I can make a start building something with this lot... 64ft of pipe that came my way for free
elcamino/wheelhorse 9,290 #2 Posted September 24, 2016 @Stigian I do believe that you would take most anything that is on the cheap or for free. I do the same thing , but I think of it as recycling , my wife says it junk making a mess in our backyard.

Red144runner 657 #4 Posted September 30, 2016 Is that a wellsaw? I have one, I got it from my high school shop teacher who I've stayed friends with for the past 20 years. The city condemned it for (no joke) a frayed cord. So they made him toss it and replace it with a pos chicom unit. I brought it to our garage at work and we use it frequently. Heavy duty made in USA. What's not to like?
wallfish 16,971 #5 Posted October 1, 2016 Not sure if you have been using one of those all along or not, but if not, you're going to be twice as productive now. Love the horizontal bandsaw because it's accurate and I can do other things while it's cutting.
wrightorchid 261 #6 Posted October 3, 2016 You might want to add a pan or something to collect the cuttings, and the fluid you should be using to keep the blade cutting cooler. The bigger saws have a circulation pump that keeps fluid on the blade when running. (might be overkill if only cutting pipe, and not solid stock)
