520-8 owners, lift spring question

Recommended Posts

JERSEYHAWG / Glenn

Does the 520-8 have a manual assist lift spring part Number?  To assist with manually lifting that 60 inch deck, snowblower, Etc?

I was going to buy one of Glen Petits lift assist springs, but he and I are not sure if it is the correct one for the task.

I can't find out, how to find out. Does that make sense. Lol  Since my 520-8  hasn't been delivered to me yet I can't even look to investigate this.

Thanks, Glenn

Sounds like a good time for a electric lift purchase.

Some think the electric left won't have what it takes for that 60 inch deck. Frankly, I don't know. Just trolling the waters and looking for comments / suggestions. Thanks slammer for the input.

You may be right about the electric lift.Lol  Did the lift assist spring come standard on the 520-8? I googled it and only seen one pick of one being used to lift a snow blower.

I don't know, trying to find out, but, I can't find anything out. Lol  waiting for one of the other 224 owners to chime in. Wake me when they do.

The only lift springs I know about are used on the snowblower snd tiller. The 60" deck really only gets lifted in the front, it stays for the most part on its wheels for traveling. I myself have never seen s 60 lifted all the way up. That's even with the hydros. Just lifting the front is enough.

I had a 60 on one of my 520's and got rid of it. The deck was made extreamly well built and cut great. In my opinion it's just too much deck for the tractor. You can line up 520's with no decks on them and you will be able to tell which ones had them. 60's are hard on the tractors. Tractors that had 60" will show all kinds of wear. Even cracking the frames sometimes. Like I said, it's a great deck, just too much for the tractor in my opinion.
