Trap79 2 #1 Posted September 12, 2016 I'm looking at an old 502. It comes with a single plow. I was wondering if that would have enough power and weight to plow some small food plots? This land hasn't seen a plow since the 60s. I did use a rototiller on the plots last year but I didn't go to deep. I'd sure appreciate some input from folks who know these machines. Thanks.
ACman 7,618 #2 Posted September 12, 2016 (edited) @Trap79 It may work , after seeing what my RJ could do . And for what he's asking on that package you can't go wrong . You're lucky two tractors didn't come home yesterday . I've been eyeing that deal for a while ,can't believe he still has them . If it doesn't work out you can definitely get back your money. Also would you take some pics of the dealer stickers on the tractor and disc , even if you don't buy it . There's thread on old dealerships were trying to find as many as possible . Thanks ACman

T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,496 #6 Posted September 12, 2016 Here's what a 4 hp 401 can do. I'm sure a 502 can also do a good job.
slammer302 2,155 #7 Posted September 12, 2016 I have a 502 that I've plowed with before. It got the job done but it worked slow not near as fast as my commando 8 that I normally use my plow on. I used the same 502 yesterday for blading a gravel drive way it worked well I do have wheel weights on the back with ag tires
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,496 #8 Posted September 12, 2016 I think if it's a 8 inch plow, it will do better. If it's a 10 inch plow, then it will struggle some. Also, ground conditions play a big part in plowing. If it's wet, then it will have a hard time. If it's a sandy type and dry, but not too dry and not packed hard, it will do better.
