Question about 416-H rear fender/seat mount

Recommended Posts

Question is, Is the rear fender also mounted on springs or rubber somehow?  I know the seat has springs but the whole rear fender assembly on mine wiggles as if its sprung also.  I haven't had the time to tear into it to look further and figured someone here would know!

The fender pan is bolted directly to the brackets under it. No rubber cushions. Only rubber cushions would be where the hinged seat mount rests on fender pan.

The cross bar that mounts the gas tank and the seat mounts to the, lets call it the console.

The mount area is broken and will need welded or angle supports installed.

Take off the seat.  4 bolts.

Take off the fenders. 4 more bolts.

Maybe a few wires and you'll see the problem.

The pic shows a repaired one.

Anyone have suggestions for fixing this problem.  I noticed yesterday the one side of my 315-8 was broken.  Do you use angle iron or heavy sheet metal?

I've repaired waaaaay too many on my Horses.I use 1/8 in by 2 in wide flat stock.Just gotta drill a couple new holes.1/8 in thick material doesn't affect how the center console plate sits when it's all bolted together. This is a real weak spot on these tractors.

Do you place the new 1/8" flat stockunder the entire console plate?

Looking at this Ferris seat and wondering about the issues I may encounter in trying to switch out entire seat on the 417 or even if it can be done ?
Any info would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

Show off what your doing from the seat of your Horse!!! Fixed up a mowing deck for the 1277 and put the plow on the C1014. Getting ready to level a topsoil pile and going down the block to mow the small park to test the mowing deck out.

Has anyone found a good source for gold plated (not the thin plated stuff) male/female connectors?
      And/or weather proof connector housings?

I’m still not sure if this was under engineered, or they didn’t think the product would last this long (couldn’t envision the Wheel Horse Collector's Club)

Started the day prepping the garden to plant potatoes. The 416-8 and middle buster got 125' of rows opened up.Next item on the list was to paint the engine and tins on
the 312a loader tractor.Take the crane tractor and spot oak rounds at the splitter. Once split load the cart behind the 416h and bring wood up to the house for stacking.Load saws and go back to the downed tree to bring more rounds to the splitter.Rinse and repeat.I'm a little tired but greatful for the seat time. These little guys earned their keep today.
