Wishin4a416 2,191 #1 Posted September 7, 2016 I have been servicing and cleaning the 520 I got this past Saturday and hit a wall tonight. The PO has stripped out the 1/4 hex hole and it gave me fits. My xtractor kept bottoming out so I kept grinding some off of the bottom till I got it to bite. Took a 12'' cresent to break it loose. I put an external square drive back in it. Wow! What a chore.
jdleach 525 #2 Posted September 7, 2016 He may have started out as the "P.O", but I figure by the time you were done, he graduated to the "P.O.S".
stevasaurus 22,883 #3 Posted September 7, 2016 That is a great picture of the plug with the "easy-out" in it. Can we use that picture for future members?
WHX?? 49,193 #4 Posted September 7, 2016 Didn't we just have a member a while back that had the same problem and he was advised to drill through the plug so the easy out would fit?? Might have been an oily mess so I like your idea better Jack! 14 hours ago, Wishin4a416 said: external square drive back in it until you round off the corners on that plug

I have been turning the oil plug on the Kohler 312 for 29 years and its still like new. But, if it did, at least there is something to put a small pipe wrench to the next time. 6 hours ago, stevasaurus said: That is a great picture of the plug with the "easy-out" in it.
