Just got a garden plow today

I just got a garden plow off Craigslist today for $50.    I never had one before so this will be a new experience for me! The separate original bracket in the picture was bent so the previous owner made a new one, installed it, and then he fixed the old one.

   You may want to back off on the depth adjustment a bit, the way it is set now you will be going down about two feet. Just play with it a little and you will be ready for the next plow day.

How do I set the depth adjustment? By the turnbuckle? How far do I adjust it and which way do I turn it?

Yes, the turnbuckle will set the depth. Jack the tractor up and put a piece of 6X6 or whatever you have under each tire to elevate the tractor  five or six inches off the floor. Attach the plow to the hitch and let it down, now adjust the turnbuckle until the bottom of the plow is resting level on the floor. The skid plate at the back will keep it from wanting to go deeper.

I will check the threads out. The turnbuckle seems like it hasn't been adjusted in years so I guess I need to use some penetrating oil and/or heat to loosen it. I'm thinking of using it on my 876 since that has a slot hitch. The cable is broken so I will need another cable before I can try it.

@wheelhorseman1000 is a vendor and makes the cables, they are first class, I bought one and am very pleased.
