N3PUY 1,031 #1 Posted August 21, 2016 Just went and picked-up this red GT. Owner said it's a LawnChief. Same color as a Wheel Horse! And the tiller is a Murray. He thought all the implements are Brinley. Everything can connect to the tractor. He said the carb needs cleaned. Probably..... there's no lens on the fuel gauge fuel cap. Acts like a funnel now. There's also another set of weights, chains and hitch attachment. Here's the pics. And I hauled it all home in the Caravan. (2 trips though)
elcamino/wheelhorse 9,326 #2 Posted August 21, 2016 Never heard of a Lawn Chief ,but if the price was right, you got a lot of attachments what will work on a . The hitch looks like one Sears sold for the crapsman tractors.
DougC 2,641 #3 Posted August 21, 2016 All you need now is a planter and you will have a working farm! I have heard of Lawn Chief for many years however I've never owned any, but I'm past 60 so if I used to know it left me long ago like my first 3 wives. (Just kidd'n ) That's quite a find! Congratulations!!!
Ed Kennell 38,227 #4 Posted August 21, 2016 (edited) Whole bunch o good stuff there. How much manpower does it take to lift the tiller? Edited August 21, 2016 by Ed Kennell

N3PUY 1,031 #7 Posted August 21, 2016 44 minutes ago, cleat said: Is that another tiller in the background ? YES.... a 48" tiller . It's the neighbor's. I've become his repair facility. (should have kept the garage door shut). Replacing tines and welded a section of the 2"x2" bar that he tore off. That's the section in the 2nd pic. 1 hour ago, Ed Kennell said: Whole bunch o good stuff there. How much manpower does it take to lift the tiller? Tiller is easy to lift. There is a counter balance spring. It's in the pics but unhooked because I had the tiller off.
N3PUY 1,031 #8 Posted August 21, 2016 Interesting ..... look at what I found in the ignition switch! 3 hours ago, elcamino/wheelhorse said: Never heard of a Lawn Chief ,but if the price was right, you got a lot of attachments what will work on a . The hitch looks like one Sears sold for the crapsman tractors. The Lawn Chief is sold by Tru-Value Hardware. This one was made by Murray. Murray probably was making Craftsman mowers at some time also. 2 hours ago, cleat said: Is that another tiller in the background ? I thought about hitching it up to the RJ.

Wheel-N-It 2,969 #11 Posted August 22, 2016 Looks like you had a good day there. The 16hp Briggs should handle the chores very well.
stratostar250 919 #12 Posted August 22, 2016 The tractor may been a Lawn Chief, but at heart, it's a Murray. I know this because of my "yellow" find about a year ago. I've seen this style badged as a few different kinds. Looks real nice though, and with all those attachments, I'm sure it can put in some good work!
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,496 #13 Posted August 22, 2016 Lawn Chief was made by MTD, according to the MTD website. http://support.mtdproducts.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/178/~/brands-manufactured-by-mtd Nice attachments btw. Can't go wrong with older Brinly attachments.

Can't go wrong with older Brinly attachments. Hey T-Mo, Do you have any idea what it could have been badged. I know for sure it's a Murray... the ID tag is on it. ID info is 6-1600 81-40860X57 Build date 0345 I've looked for info but can't even find a pic of it. If I knew who sold it that may help. (anyone?) T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,496 #16 Posted August 23, 2016 Maybe contact Murray directly? https://www.murray.com/na/en_us/support/contact-us.html
PeacemakerJack 10,738 #17 Posted August 27, 2016 Not sure about the tractor but that is one heck of a haul of Brinly attachments! Those are getting to be more and more valuable in our hobby as the years go by. Good find. Even if the tractor fails at some point, those attachments will be good for years to come!
