how to fix a foot rest

i have found feet rest for my project but the thing is one of the rest has a square cut out of it, any ideas on how to fix it?

if you can find a piece of matching metal you can square up the cut out and weld in the new piece

Benji  is right.!!!!  Its just Diamond plate..it is possible to make a new one as well,,,,,,,,,,,Thank

goodness its not the cast iron one !!!

i think it would almost be easier to make new.

Making a new one would be pretty easy . Bench vice , maybe a little heat . Or if you like a challenge , just fill it in with scrap metal . Then with some welds make your X's in the appropriate places . Using a grinder / die grinder , shape the X's so they look factory . A little time consuming , but a fun project , and a original piece saved .
