Christopher 0 #1 Posted August 14, 2016 Hi We have what we think is a commando 8 3 speed, it's what we were told when buying it. It's by no means perfect but runs ok. It has no deck as we use it to tow a little trailer for beekeeping. Anyway it's always been a bit awkward selecting gears, but it's gone much worse this week, occasionally selecting 2nd, and more often than not it will go in reverse. It works fine when it is in gear but it feels like a selector issue? Any advice? Cheerio Christopher
953 nut 55,933 #2 Posted August 14, 2016 Raise up on the rubber boot that covers the shift lever and at the front you will see a threaded stet screw with a lock nut on it. This is called a "Dogpoint" screw and it holds the shift lever in place. Back off on the lock nut and adjust the dogpoint to see if that corrects the problem. If you do a search on this site for dogpoint you will find lots of photos and discussion on it. Hope this helps.
