WHX?? 48,815 #1 Posted August 11, 2016 This is a buddy's Dixon high speed zero turn. I guess they are somewhat of a high end machine and this one was at least 6k+ new. Buddy's wife was mowing flat out full throttle when this happened can you imagine the surprise!?!? Going to stop over at his house tonite to help get it back on as new studs & nuts are in order. In checking the 4 bolt hubs they are dinky, my Suburban hubs are more stouter not to mention the larger 5 bolt ones on our bigger horses! The rest of this machine is pretty heavy tho.... the chains the deck hangs off of gotta be at least 3/8" & role over bar is massive. Even though the hubs on a Horse look heavy duty, they are the weak point on the tractor in my opinion. Key ways that wear out & cracking is a common problem with the cast hubs. I'm working with a friend to get some steel hubs made on a CNC machine for a project I have in mind. I think steel will eliminate the weak point.
