qd-16 14 #5 Posted December 26, 2008 Thanks for the welcome, I have a few other wheel horses I need to get pictures of. I have a 656 with a 8 horse kohler, two 856 horses, and a 700 workhorse that I've been using parts off of for the other three shortframes. Here is one of the 856's I use this mainly to pull things around.

jusjeepn 59 #9 Posted December 26, 2008 I like the hood ornaments on the 856! The blue one has aerodynamic properties as well as function. I think I would have mounted the plow behind the tractor though, Like the look, but function Nice looking 310 you got Pat
mailman 1 #10 Posted December 26, 2008 That plow or rather a "middle buster", "furrower" or "potato plow" looks nice. I'm looking for one just like it. Welcome! And keep the pics coming!
bitten 134 #11 Posted December 27, 2008 Al Very nice looking red hood you have there, do you know what year it is? Mine is a 85' and havent been able to find out what or why the red hoods were made or what the signifacance of it is and was woundering if it might have something to do with the year. It didnt come with a rear lift or a highth adjuster( which I have added) and thought at one time that maybe it was designated more as a lawn mower then a garden tractor. You never know maybe it was a run when they didnt have black paint at the time. I have used it level/finish my back yard after new house was belt, tilled my garden with it, plowed my garden, have a chipper/shrede,48" yard roller and many things to pull behind it. What Im trying to get at is it is a working mechine. Hope you enjoy it as much as i have enjoyed mine. P.J.
qd-16 14 #12 Posted December 27, 2008 P.j. I don't know why the hoods on the 85's were all red, it sure does give them a unique look. I have seen a 308-8 that was all red. When I got this 310 I was disappointed at the lack of features such as the lifting hitch, dial-a-height, and any electrical guages. I don't know if later 310's had any of these "extras"? Maybe these features were ommitted to get the price down for somebody who wanted just a no frills lawn mower? I haven't had the chance to use my snowblower yet but I hope the ten horse is enough to power it. The toro website lists the 42 inch blower as an attachment the 310 was capable of but not the smaller 308. I added a volt meter and hour gauge to mine and was surprised to find the wiring harness was already there for it. Al.
