Ed Kennell 38,021 #1 Posted July 18, 2016 (edited) When I cleaned up the lawn cart I got at the auction on Sat., I noticed this angled plate welded to the rear lip. Apparently this was added to assist in digging in when pushing the cart back to complete the dumping procedure. The plate is not shown on my 7-2211 parts and instruction picture. Is this something WH added later, or is this an owners add on. Even with the plate, the cart did not dig in enough to raise the cart as the instructions indicate. I had to lift it by hand to dump the apples. Edited July 18, 2016 by Ed Kennell
DennisThornton 4,769 #2 Posted July 18, 2016 I've never seen a mid-mount disc harrow! Would love to see and hear more about that!

CasualObserver 3,408 #4 Posted July 18, 2016 That extra lip tab was standard and on the back of the carts. It was probably just out of the line of sight on the manual photo due to the angle or something. Most of the carts I've seen are bent there from use just like that. It was a good idea in theory, but the rest of the back lip of the cart wasn't designed right to hold up to it. Clever title by the way....

roadapples 6,983 #6 Posted July 18, 2016 Well you made me go look. I think the "bend" is factory also. Mine looks just like that...

Thanks for the response Jason....glad I wasn't too quick to cut it off. Other than that back edge being bent, the cart is in pretty fair condition. I think I can straighten the edge OK. A better design would have been two tabs...one on each side of the cart where it is much stronger. Thanks for looking Jay. I've seen plenty of these carts, but I never noticed the rear tab. Dennis, check that harvest time post as Jason suggested for more info on the disc. The disc is actually pulled by a bar attached to the mid attach-a-matic and lifted by the deck lift.

Ed Kennell 38,021 #10 Posted July 21, 2016 I had a few visitors at the apple pile. Scared the @@@@ out of that two legged creature looking for the camera in the dark when the flash goes off.
