MalMac 1,331 #4 Posted July 8, 2016 Wheel Horse was involved for years with the Speedway. There are a lot of post here on RS about it. I can remember back when are family was a dealer, we were asked by the Indianapolis distributer to participate in the month of May, we never really did or did some small stuff but because it was right when we were busy on the farm. This year was the 100th running of the race and they had a lot of special stuff going on. I was real surprised or thought that with the history Wheel Horse had with the speedway, Toro would have jumped on the band wagon and something would have been done down there. Toro does a lot of equipment providing for nascar tracks. Maybe Red Square or WHCC miss a opportunity. There again that was along time ago. The tractor is not even made anymore. It probably would not do Toro any good to dig up old news.

Bob ,I found this clip on YouTube , there are a few others on there too that show wheel horses in the pits . I did a search on the race videos for around the early 60s and there are plenty of clips from around this time , although you may have to sift through the vids to catch a few glimpses of the tractors but there is still some interesting moments of the races.

T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,496 #11 Posted July 10, 2016 I'm not into racing and only know a few of the big names, i..e Foyt, Unser, Andretti, etc. So, I was curious on reading the names off the cars. Didn't recognize any. I do know Foyt won that year's race. Has anyone found one of the tractors used in the pits of any race year? And how would one prove it was used at a race? These sort of questions come to mind when I was watching that. It would be cool to own one, but proving it would be hard, and it probably wouldn't add any value, except the cool factor.
MalMac 1,331 #13 Posted July 10, 2016 Back in 1967 I think it was we had two of the tractors from the track at are dealership. It wasn't because we wanted tractors from the track. It was we were short on a couple that we ordered and the distributor told us we would get are order filled when the tractors were returned to them for redistribution to the dealers. The only way I can think of proving it would be if Indy distributor still had records of what dealer got what tractors. I think it would be very unlikely they would have anything. Wildside 195 #14 Posted July 11, 2016 T-MO, I would like to chase that down myself. I have one (500 Special) and to know it was at the track would be killer.

Cool. I need to give you a call and make it over to your place. I especially like to see the 753. Been busy changing out an engine in a Caravan.
