A 8hp with a 6 speed is a mighty combination. I have a C81 that is nothing but a more modern version of a 867. Don't tell that C81 it's only a 8hp. It thinks it's a 12. If you did not know it was a 8hp you would think you were on a 10hp or better. Will do anything you ask of it except use a  too big of a mowing deck. Even though my 867 started life as 1055 it will be a 867 when done. Can't wait.

If you are putting a 8 speed on a short frame you will have to re-fab the brake rod assembly. The 8 speed's brake drum is located in a different spot than the 6 speeds. I have a 6 speed from a 867 that I am using. steveasaurus, Racinbob and racinfool40 have been a great help in the rebuilding of the 6 speed limited slip. It's just a little different beast than the 8 speed. Once you get that 8 speed hooked up you will have one heck of a tractor.

The no name tractors, I think 1973's?

Used the single pedal clutch/brake setup but also had the brake drum in the newer 8 speed location. I don't know how long production on this configuration went but the original parts have been made to reengineer.

Howard , I think you stayed in the sun too much at the Big Show. I am still trying to calm down and not buy anything for a while. I think the chief financial officer would have my head and other body parts. Have fun with project . I will need pictures since I have been thinking about an 8 speed for the Commando 800 roller.

Racinbob, got one I am putting together here. That's the one that you, Steve and Mike were helping me on that 6 speed. Short frame with a 6 speed. Talk about a working tractor. There again I love the short frame square hoods. Sure put a lot of them together at are dealership when I was a small kid.

MalMac   It would be great if you had pictures of  your families  dealer ship back then. It is always cool to look back. Just saying.

I know there is very few pics that I have seen. Another family member might have some. I'll have to check. There use to be one of Cecil Pond at are shop but I have not seen it for a long time. It was a fun time as a young kid  setting up new tractors out of the crates. As I got older I got to help demonstrate some of the attachments.
