Hey guys I figured I might as well post this process. I'm changing the rims and steering wheel on this RJ to black, and the seat to red.

I think the RJs look better with black and red.

They really do, that's why I've decided to paint it those colors

Got the front rims and the seat mounted. The seat came out a few shades off from the rest of the tractor, so I'm going to hopefully order a black and red pan seat cover from Buckrancher if I can. Other than that I think it's coming out nice!

Hope you have better luck than me spraying those rims.

I've been working on painting the rear duals on my 702 for going on 3 weeks now.  :bitch:

I wanted to strip to bare metal first.  They had about 6 layers of old very durable paint that took forever to blast.

I estimate it took about 10 hours total to strip mine.

Went to spray them Tuesday morning... Rustoleum quart can, enamel hardener, mineral spirits.

Sprayed thin, but got runs and sags.

Now I've got to sand down the runs and spray again.  Ugh!

I think my issue is with the mineral spirits to thin with.  I don't like it.  Acetone would probably work better.

Wow that's a lot of work! With mine I cleaned them first with mineral spirits, sanded them down to where the paint was dull, air hosed all the dirt off, cleaned them with mineral spirits again, then primed them

Mine had rust under the old paint that was bubbling in places, deep scratches and chunks of paint missing.  I would have spent just as much time trying to fill and smooth the chunks of paint that were missing, plus there was rust underneath.

Mine was truly a bigger project than I had anticipated.  Even worse was that my teenage son, who once loved working the sandblaster, lost interest after about an hour.

I don't know what kind of paint the previous owner used, but it was tough as nails to remove.  Too bad he painted over old rust and gouges.
