squonk 41,016 #1 Posted June 27, 2016 Picked up a nice 42" RD recycler deck that Lane Ranger was kind enough to trip over an haul from Indiana for me. Looked almost new. but I decided to tear it apart and go through it any way. Glad I did. Pics of the underside. Things look innocent enough: removed the little wing whooby dooby's still looks ok. Pulled off the baffle EEEKKK!!!! Look at all the crap trapped in there! No wonder the thing was so heavy. Back side of the baffle wasn't bad Coated everything first with rust converter where there was rust, then spray on bedliner.

elcamino/wheelhorse 9,295 #3 Posted June 27, 2016 Squonk Never seen a green snake that large before. How does the spray on bed liner hold up on the under side of the deck ?
squonk 41,016 #4 Posted June 27, 2016 The liner holds up pretty good. I use a 4" grinder with a wire cup brush every fall to get as much grass/ rust out then use the rust stopper and then the liner and store the deck for the winter. I have to touch up the liner every fall but most of it remains.
elcamino/wheelhorse 9,295 #5 Posted June 27, 2016 Thanks , I may try that decks need maintenance every fall more that grease in the spindles. Had a fun time you. Where is Waldo?
Forest Road 594 #6 Posted June 30, 2016 Nicely done! I removed my mulch insert a few years ago. Don't miss it when I remove the deck.
