kbertsch 4 #1 Posted June 9, 2016 I have had this tractor for a year and it has run like a champ. no problems at all...... until last weekend. I was pulling my trailer across a field and and got stuck. i unhitched the trailer to get the tractor out and it wouldn't move. it seemed like it would go in gear but it just wouldn't move in any gear. Racinbob 11,035 #7 Posted June 14, 2016 (edited) Well, how did it go? I just noticed that you are in Granger. I was born and raised in Granger, It was a bit different then. SR 23 was a narrow, crowned 2 laner and the nearest full grocery store was Greenwoods all the way into South Bend. That is if Bernies on the corner of Bittersweet and 23 didn't have what you needed. kbertsch 4 #8 Posted June 14, 2016 Wow, small world. We have lived here for 20 years when SR 23 was two lane but we have always had a grocery store. The corner of 23 and Bittersweet is a 7-11/Gas station. I'm sure it has changed a lot since you've been here. The biggest change is the creation of a 4 lane highway from SR 23 to the 20 bypass. They completed that since we moved here. Otherwise as you well remember, there was not any way of going south without going through country roads. I didn't get a chance to work on the tractor. I'm going to try to look at it this week. I have never taken hubs off before but it sounds fairly straight forward. Racinbob 11,035 #9 Posted June 14, 2016 Cool. My parents bought the house that is exactly 1/2 mile east of Bittersweet on 23 (south side) in 1954 when my Mom was pregnant with me. When my Mom passed in 2011 as much as we hated to we sold it. My sister and brother in law still live in the next house to the east. Every time we go up there it amazes me to see the changes. I have a book called The History of Harris Township that I treasure. There's a lot of pictures including a group shot with my Dad. He was a part of the very first volunteer firemen that built the first fire station on Bittersweet back in the 50's. It brings back wonderful memories. kbertsch 4 #10 Posted August 22, 2016 Thanks to all who sent in comments. It turns out i'm embarrassed to say the wheel just slid in on the axle exposing the key on the end. All i did was put the key back in and slide the wheel back over on the key and tighten the set screw. I hate to admit i didn't see it when i first looked at it but my mind went to much larger issues like the transmission. Thanks again everyone. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
