875 Restoration Update #1

Recommended Posts

Today I did a inspection of most of the electrical connections to find out most if not all were in bad shape.

Hard to see, but all wire ends were white/green with corrosion.  Some wires pulled out of connectors with little pressure. So started making up all new wires.

Also did a little check on the Kohler K181S.  Pulled the air cleaner apart to discover that someone used a little muscle putting the cover on.  lol

Going to be a fun project for me, can't

wait to show more progress in photos.

:)

Well, we were having an "Ugly Seat" contest; looks like you have contenders for ugly air filter and ugly wiring contests!  :ychain:

Another small victory!! Able to remove rusted in pipe nipple for muffler and able to loosen rusted slot hitch.

Used a half & half ATF fluid & Nexgen mix on the slot hitch.  Came up with the mix from one of the threads but had no

acetone so improvised. ;)

We use Slide Nexgen at my shop all the time for cleaning off molds, dies etc.

Citrus- vegetable based cleaner.

Made some more forward progress tonight after work.  Finished hooking up all the new electrical connections, new battery cables.  Turned the ignition key and the starter and motor turned over. :).  No spark yet but I have to check out the rest of the electrical yet.

And the slot hitch is moving more freely today.  Still using the ATF fluid/Nexgen

penetrating oil "Witches Brew" on it.

It is working!!! ;). Friday could not move the hitch with a 36" pipe wrench...
