period incorrect paint colors =sin?

Hi, new guy again. Gonna be re painting my 86 312..eventually.

Is it considered 'sacrelig ' if I went with the 'almond ' rather than silver on wheels?..

(Hiding)

But that combo looks sooo cool.

Okay, if it 'has to be silver'..is it OK to do the really shiny 'almost chrome' look?

I'm curious as I'm new, and I don't wanna post pics of something that will freak the hardcores out.

Thanks all. Hope this is in the right place.

It's just paint, if you decide to sell it someday and the next guy don't like the color then he/ she can always change it.

No significant difference to its value. So might as well do it up the way you wish to do so.

:WRS:  The primary consideration here is to enjoy your :wh:. The feature tractor at this year's Wheel horse Collector Club show will be Customs. Sing it like Frank Sinatra, "I did it My way".

Awesome consensus gang.

:)

I was afraid  (and admit , embarrassed and wrong) that only cause I've seen such awesome 'rebuilds' etc. here, that some may be..a little. .riled.. (I didn't say snobs).. ;)

And BTW, always red, yellow and green looks like a kids toy.

;)

(No offense,  I know several folks here use several brands..it's all in fun)

Awesome forum, although I admit I have a but load of work that hasn't gotten done since last Thursday  (day I knew a horse was coming home)

I'm spending waaaay too much time browsing this forum.

Thanks again.

The silver wheel paint by Dupicolor at Advance Auto matches pretty good when I painted my wheel weights and the IH red Majic brand paint from TSC is a pretty close match to TORO red (bottom of 48" deck and rebuilt 44" snow blower) and has held up pretty good for me but it can be kinda hard to use it's recoat "window" is a little frustrating and it takes a while longer to cure just my :twocents-02cents: ,Jeff.

Do it.  Unless you're doing a spot on resto, do what makes YOU happy :P

I bought a Cub Cadet not long ago that is in excellent condition and agonized over the same thing. I'm going with something different on that because I will then be the only person with one like it.  Plus it's a Cub :hide:
