getting WH into push mode

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,  Is there a secret to getting my WH into push mode? I've moved the rear lever to push mode but the mower is still locked up in drive.

I have a 17-44 HXL

Model 71197

Serial 9905915

Thanks in advance!!

first...Welcome to Red Square...and you are just up the road from me.  :)  I am not familiar with your horse, but I am going to say that there is probably a tow valve that you open and then you can push the tractor.  What year is your horse??  Scroll down the Main Page to the Manuals Section...open that up and click on the years that contain your horse.  You are looking to down load the IPL and it should tell you where and how to work the tow valve.  I am going to call attention to @gwest_ca  ...he is our resident manual guy.  I hope he can help you if the manuals are not there for you horse.  :)

Just added the setup instructions to the file. There is a procedure there for purging air from the hydro drive. Might help.

Thank you very much for the manuals!!!

I do move the drive control to the push position.....but the mower does not go into push mode....if I try to push it, the back tires spin in opposite directions.  I cant get it started and its sitting in the middle of my yard and I'd like to move it to my house to work on it.

So is there something else I can do to get the trans-axle to free up???

I don't know anything about these but if the disc brake is rusted at all that will lock it up and sounds like what is happening if the wheels turn in opposite directions. See if you can back off the brake and make sure the friction discs are not stuck to the brake rotor.

I go along with Gary. Brake locked up. Try backing off the adjusting nut on the disc brake and see if it will move. If so you will have to remove the complete brake ass'y and clean it to get it to function correctly. . :USA:

:text-yeahthat:  Been there, done that.  Brought home a B-115 and couldn't get it to roll out of the back of my pickup.  I had to back off the brake from the rotor so it would roll.
